Mr. Owen, Principal Consultant of GeoLOGIC Environmental Solutions, Inc., is a member of the Environmental Assessment Association, National Ground Water Association (NGWA), Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP), and the Atlanta Geological Society.
Mr. Owen is a Georgia Licensed Professional Geologist and is also licensed in Alabama, California and Tennessee . Mr. Owen is also certified as a Radon Monitoring Professional by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), and a Soil and Sediment Control Monitoring and Inspection Professional under the requirements set forth by HB285, an amendment to the Georgia Erosion and Sediment Control Act of 1975. Mr. Owen is a graduate of Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Geology.
Since 1981, Mr. Owen has worked in the environmental consulting industry and has an extensive array of experience ranging from the more common environmental projects such as Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, to more complicated Phase II soil and groundwater characterizations, and Phase III remediation projects. His experience involves contaminants associated with unauthorized release of heavy metals, chemicals and acids, radioactive waste, and petroleum hydrocarbons.
Mr. Owen's field experience ranges from assessments and remediation projects related to methane gas generated from landfills and former oil and gas production fields, radioactive soil and groundwater related to uranium mill tailings and radium manufacturing operations, hexavalent chromium metal contamination in soil and groundwater in California, Colorado, Utah and Alberta, Canada, and pre-superfund designation assessments of active chemical manufacturing plants of hydrofluoric acid and pesticides, as well as assessments of impacted soil and groundwater associated with open pit gold mines in Utah and former petroleum production fields in southern California.
In addition, Mr. Owen is a member of the Gwinnett County based Council for Quality Growth, a non-profit organization with a mission to promote the continued, balanced and responsible growth of the Atlanta Metropolitan Region. Mr. Owen works in cooperation with the Council as a Level 1A Trainer, as authorized by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission.
